A Rain-Ready Weekend Without an Extra Bag
A wet forecast changes the packing priorities, but it does not have to double the luggage.

Check the forecast window
Look at the places and hours you will be outside. Pack for likely conditions rather than every possible weather event.
Protect the critical items
Keep documents and electronics in a water-resistant pouch or sealed bag. A compact outer layer usually earns space before a second pair of everyday shoes.
Plan for drying
Give damp clothing a temporary bag for the trip home, then unpack it promptly. Do not seal wet items away for days.
Are waterproof shoes essential?
That depends on the activity and forecast. Comfortable shoes with reliable traction may be enough for short urban walks.
